Gamescom 2026 is in full swing in Cologne, and PlayStation and Xbox have each put out their own rundown of what they are bringing to the show. The two reports barely overlap in format. PlayStation's centers on trailers and announcements from Opening Night Live, while Xbox is leaning on its physical booth and letting people play games before they launch. Put together, they cover most of what either platform wants players talking about this week.
PlayStation's Opening Night Live Highlights
PlayStation's official Gamescom recap covers 19 games shown during Opening Night Live, spanning new trailers, confirmed release dates, gameplay reveals and updates on titles already in development.
Major Reveals and Updates
A handful of announcements carried the show. Final Fantasy VII Revelation got a Spring 2027 window, Control Resonant is set for September 24, and Exodus now has a firm date of April 7, 2027. The rest of the list covers a mix of new footage and status updates rather than full reveals:
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Spring 2027

- Rainbow Six Tactics, 2027

More PS5 Games Featured
Opening Night Live also touched on a shorter list of titles without giving each one a dedicated segment: Acornia: Mirror Worlds, an enhancement update for Crimson Desert, Exterminauts, LEGO Skylines, Ontos, Tides of Annihilation and Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons.
Xbox at Gamescom 2026
Xbox's report skips the trailer reel approach entirely and focuses on what people can actually play at its booth. The company says its Gamescom setup includes 25 upcoming games spread across 140 gaming stations, giving attendees hands-on time with several titles ahead of launch.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Takes the Spotlight
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is being positioned as one of the main draws at the Xbox booth, with attendees able to play its Core 6v6 Multiplayer mode on Xbox Series X ahead of release.
Gears of War: E-Day Gets Its First Playable Demo
Gears of War: E-Day is getting its first public campaign demo at Gamescom. Xbox says the build gives players an early look at the start of the Locust War and the beginning of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago's relationship, ahead of the game's October 6, 2026 release.
Fable, Minecraft Dungeons II and the Rest of the Booth
Several other games round out the Xbox lineup. Playground Games is running a live Fable demo presentation, Minecraft Dungeons II is playable for the first time, and STRANGER THAN HEAVEN has a demo spanning three cities and eras. Metro 2039 is also playable ahead of its February 2027 release, alongside Halo: Campaign Evolved, Forza Horizon 6 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Xbox additionally lists Alien: Isolation 2, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, STAR WARS Zero Company, Turok: Origins and Valor Mortis among the wider booth lineup, along with several other titles.
Where the Two Lineups Overlap
A few games show up in both companies' reports, just framed differently depending on the platform. Metro 2039 got a second gameplay trailer from PlayStation while Xbox confirmed it will be playable at the booth ahead of its February 2027 release. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has its August 27 launch trailer from PlayStation and also sits in Xbox's wider lineup. Turok: Origins picked up a new story trailer confirming its Spring 2027 window from PlayStation, while Xbox lists it among the booth's playable titles. Valor Mortis follows the same pattern, with a new trailer and October 13 date from PlayStation alongside a spot in Xbox's lineup.
Xbox's Broadcast Plans
Xbox is also streaming its booth activity for people not attending in person. Broadcasts start at 4pm CEST on both August 26 and August 27, with developer interviews, guest appearances, gameplay reveals and new trailers.
Between the two reports, PlayStation's Opening Night Live roundup leans on trailers and confirmed dates across 19 games, and Xbox's booth report leans on hands-on access across 25 games and 140 stations. The games that show up on both lists, Metro 2039, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Turok: Origins and Valor Mortis, are getting the most visibility of the show either way. More footage and announcements are still expected as Gamescom 2026 continues.
