The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 group stage at Esports World Cup 2026 came to a close on Friday in Riyadh, and it did not go quietly. Four elimination matches decided the last four playoff spots, and by the end of the night, Team Heretics, Gentle Mates, Movistar KOI and OpTic Gaming had all punched their tickets to the knockout rounds.
That completes the field. Those four join G2 Esports, Team Falcons, 100 Thieves and FaZe Clan, who locked in their spots earlier in the week, giving the tournament a full eight team playoff bracket heading into Saturday's single elimination round.
Day 3 had a bit of everything. Day 3 featured a mix of dominant sweeps and resilient comeback performances, including a reverse sweep, a flawless Overload victory and several standout individual performances.
Movistar KOI Eliminate Cloud9 3-1
Movistar KOI dropped the opening Search and Destroy but did not let it rattle them, taking three straight maps off Cloud9 to claim the final Group A playoff berth. CleanX was the constant through the series, showing up on every map that mattered.
KOI set the tone immediately on Den Hardpoint, taking control of the rotations early and never letting Cloud9 back into it. CleanX finished with 35 kills, a plus 16 differential and 3,861 damage, while Insight added 31 kills and 96 seconds of hill time. Abe chipped in 26 eliminations as KOI outslayed Cloud9 117 to 88 and closed the map with a 111 point lead, a 250-145 result that left little doubt.
Cloud9 answered right away. Gwinn put up a 12-5 K/D on Raid Search and Destroy, Wevy went 9-4, and Encourage picked up three first bloods as Cloud9 took five of the final seven rounds to win 6-3 and even the series at a map apiece.
KOI regained control on Den Overload with a more balanced scoreline across the roster. Abe finished 28-24, Insight went 21-18, and Kips added 25-22 with two goals to help close it out 4-2. Encourage kept Cloud9 in the fight with 27 kills, but Gwinn slid to a minus 13 differential as KOI moved within a map of the playoffs.
Cloud9 hung around early on Sake Hardpoint before KOI slowly pulled the map away from them. Kips had his best game of the series, 33 kills, plus 11, 3,459 damage, while CleanX added 29 kills and Insight anchored the hill with a team high 162 seconds of control time. KOI outslayed Cloud9 103 to 94 on the way to a 250-183 finish that sealed the series and their playoff spot.

Team Heretics Sweep Team WaR to Advance
Team Heretics did not waste time. They swept Team WaR in three maps for one of the most convincing performances of the entire day, with ReeaL and SupeR taking turns carrying the load.
Frequency Hardpoint started evenly before Heretics took over in the middle of the map and built a lead Team WaR never threatened. ReeaL paced the win with 31 kills, plus 9 and 3,430 damage, while RenKoR added 27 kills and led everyone with 120 seconds on the hill. Heretics finished with a 102 to 83 kill advantage in a 250-176 result.
Team WaR won the opening round of Gridlock Search and Destroy and that was about all they got. Heretics ran off six wins in the next seven rounds to take full control. SupeR was outstanding at 8-2, RenKoR went 7-4, and ReeaL finished 7-5 as Heretics outslayed WaR 26 to 17 and won three quarters of the opening duels on the way to a 6-2 win.
Team WaR gave Heretics their toughest test of the series on Den Overload, pushing it all the way to the final objective before Heretics found a way to close it out. ReeaL delivered again under pressure with 32 kills, plus 14 and 3,979 damage, while SupeR added 27 kills, plus 11 and three goals to finish the map 4-3 and complete the sweep.

Gentle Mates Reverse Sweep The Pit
Gentle Mates lost the opening Hardpoint and then did not lose another map, ripping off three straight wins to reverse sweep The Pit and book their spot in the playoffs. JoeDeceives and Estreal led the turnaround.
The Pit came out strong on Scar Hardpoint and held off several Gentle Mates rallies to close it out 250-219. FDot led the way with 35 kills and 4,936 damage, and Mythix added 31 kills. JoeDeceives put up 38 kills on the losing side, which hinted at what was coming, but The Pit's late push was enough to take the opener.
Gentle Mates flipped the script on Hacienda Search and Destroy. Estreal went off for a 10-1 K/D, Sib finished 6-3, and Ghosty added six kills as Gentle Mates won five of the seven opening duels and outslayed The Pit 26 to 12 in a 6-1 rout.
The momentum did not slow down on Scar Overload, where Gentle Mates completed a flawless 4-0 map. Estreal finished 32-19 with a plus 13, JoeDeceives added 34 kills at plus 12, and Sib scored three goals to shut The Pit out entirely.
The Pit stayed competitive through most of Sake Hardpoint before Gentle Mates closed strong down the stretch. JoeDeceives starred again with 33 kills, plus 10 and 3,843 damage, while Ghosty added 27 kills and 91 seconds on the hill. Gentle Mates finished with a 108 to 89 kill advantage to win the map 250-218 and complete the reverse sweep.

OpTic Gaming Sweep Project Notorious
OpTic Gaming had lost earlier in the tournament to 100 Thieves, and they answered it the only way that mattered, sweeping Project Notorious to lock up the final Group B playoff spot. Shotzzy was the story of the series from start to finish.
OpTic took over midway through Hacienda Hardpoint and kept building on the lead from there. Shotzzy led everyone with 32 kills, plus 13 and 3,769 damage, while Dashy and Mercules both finished on the positive side of the kill sheet. OpTic outslayed Project Notorious 110 to 91 and built a 92 point lead after the hill phase, closing the map 250-182.
Project Notorious kept Sake Search and Destroy competitive, but OpTic kept finding the rounds that mattered most. Mercules led OpTic with 11 kills, Shotzzy went 8-5, and Cammy and Snoopy fought back for Notorious with 10 and 12 kills respectively, but OpTic still closed the map 6-4.
The tightest map of the series, Den Overload, came down to the final objective, and OpTic held their nerve. Shotzzy delivered again with 32 kills and a plus 8 differential, while Dashy added 28 kills at plus 7. ErikBooM was the one bright spot for Project Notorious with 28 kills of his own, but OpTic finished the map 3-2 to complete the sweep.

Saturday's quarterfinals shift the tournament into single elimination, and every one of the four matchups has a story behind it. G2 Esports swept their way into the playoffs without much resistance, and now they run into a Team Heretics squad that just swept Team WaR and has ReeaL playing some of the best Call of Duty of the tournament so far. Team Falcons against Gentle Mates pairs a team that has looked composed in close series against a roster that just reverse swept its way out of the lower bracket on pure momentum.
100 Thieves against Movistar KOI is arguably the round's most intriguing matchup on paper. 100 Thieves needed five maps to get past OpTic Gaming earlier in the week, and now they face a KOI team that took FaZe Clan to sudden death and just eliminated Cloud9 in four maps. And then there is FaZe Clan against OpTic Gaming, a heavyweight collision between the tournament's most dominant team so far and the defending champions who fought their way back from the brink to even be here.
The group stage is done. What's left is win or go home, and based on how these eight teams have played through the first three days, nobody in the field looks like an easy out.
