Stage 3 of IEM Cologne Major 2026 is running June 11 to 15. This is the Swiss bracket round that decides which eight of the sixteen remaining teams make the live arena playoffs. Every match is Bo3. There is no margin for a slow series. Eight teams advance on June 15. Eight go home.

Day 1 brought the results most people expected, with one or two that shifted the narrative. Day 2 went further and blew the bracket wide open. Vitality lost. Falcons got swept. Spirit moved to 2-0. Four teams are already sitting at 0-2. Here is the full account of both days and what is scheduled for Day 3 on June 13.

The Match That Defined Day 1: Spirit vs NAVI

The most talked-about result from Day 1 was not close. Team Spirit swept Natus Vincere 2-0, with donk and the rest of the lineup completely outclassing NAVI across both maps. The scorelines tell it plainly: 1-13 on Dust II, 8-13 on Anubis. NAVI did not find a foothold on either map.

This matters more than a single round result suggests. NAVI came into Cologne having won IEM Atlanta in May, which was supposed to signal a turn in their season after struggling against Vitality throughout the spring. Spirit beating them this cleanly this early in Stage 3 is a statement about where both teams sit right now.

Spirit's Stage 2 numbers were already difficult to ignore. Danil "donk" Kryshkovets posted a 2.27 rating across four maps in Stage 2, the highest recorded at this Major, and Spirit conceded just ten rounds total across the entire stage. That was in Bo1 and Bo3 matches against a mixed field. Doing it again against NAVI in a full Bo3 means the Stage 2 form was not a fluke. Spirit are the team to watch this week.

Ten rounds conceded across all of Stage 2. A 2-0 sweep of NAVI on Day 1 of Stage 3. If Spirit keep playing like this, they are going to be very hard to stop in the playoffs.

Falcons vs G2: The Match That Should Have Been Easier

Falcons beat G2 Esports 2-1, but the scorelines show how close it was: 10-13 on Inferno, 13-8 on Dust 2, 16-13 on Ancient in overtime on the decider. Falcons with NiKo are on paper one of the cleanest rosters in the field. G2 with NiKo's cousin huNter- have enough individual firepower to make any match uncomfortable. It went to OT on map three, which says something about how well G2 played after losing map one.

The photo that circulated after the match, NiKo and huNter- greeting each other on stage, was a good reminder that there is a family dynamic running through this specific matchup. Falcons got the win, but they will need to be sharper in Round 2 if they draw a tougher opponent.

The broader Falcons story this season is that they have consistently shown strong group stage form and then lost finals. At the CS Asia Championships 2026, they lost the grand final to Legacy. Getting through Stage 3 into the playoffs is not the problem. Winning the whole thing is where the pattern breaks down.

The Upsets: 9z, BetBoom, and FUT

9z and BetBoom both won their opening matches, defeating PARIVISION and The MongolZ respectively. Neither of those results was expected. PARIVISION and The MongolZ both came through Stage 2 and were expected to be competitive in Stage 3. 9z beating PARIVISION and BetBoom taking down The MongolZ puts both upsets teams into the 1-0 group for Day 2, where they will face much harder opponents.

FUT Esports did not win their match but turned in a result worth noting. FUT stole map 1 off Vitality on Anubis, 13-5, before Vitality shut them down on Overpass and Nuke to take the series 2-1. Vitality is the tournament favourite. FUT had gone 3-0 through Stage 2 and entered Stage 3 with real momentum. Taking a map off ZywOo's team in a Bo3 is not nothing, even if the series result went the expected way.

The other Day 1 results were more straightforward. MOUZ swept Legacy 2-0 on Dust 2 and Nuke. FURIA beat B8 2-0 on Mirage and Inferno. Aurora beat Monte 2-0 on Nuke and Anubis.

FalleN and FURIA: The Retirement Context

FURIA's 2-0 win over B8 is a clean result on paper. The reason people are watching FURIA specifically this Major is Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo. FalleN officially announced his retirement from professional Counter-Strike, and the Cologne Major is one of his final two Major appearances. He has played in more Majors than almost anyone in CS history. The combination of FURIA at a LAN this size and FalleN in the last stretch of his career means these matches carry weight beyond the Swiss bracket standings.

FURIA now face MOUZ in the Round 2 high match today. MOUZ have had a strong season without quite winning a premier event. A FURIA win here would mean a lot for how the rest of their tournament run is remembered.

FalleN is playing in one of his final two Majors. FURIA beat B8 cleanly on Day 1. Whether they can go deeper in Cologne is the question that matters most to a lot of people watching this week.

Day 2 Results: The Bracket Breaks Open

Eight matches on June 12. By the end of the night, the shape of Stage 3 had changed completely. Two favourites dropped out of the 1-0 group. Two underdogs established themselves as genuine playoff threats. Spirit kept winning. Here is how it all went.

In the high matches, FURIA beat MOUZ 2-1, taking Nuke 13-5 and Overpass 13-7 before MOUZ took Inferno 13-5. FURIA controlled enough of the series to walk away with the win and move to 2-0. They are now one win from the playoffs, and with FalleN's retirement run in the background, every FURIA match this week has an added weight to it.

Falcons got swept 0-2 by BetBoom in the afternoon. BetBoom won Nuke 13-11 after Falcons had them down 4-11. Falcons seemingly had the map in hand, then BetBoom ran it back completely. Ancient went 13-10 to BetBoom on a strong early start. Falcons had come into Cologne as one of the more fancied rosters in the field, off the back of consecutive finals appearances. Getting swept by BetBoom puts them into the 1-1 group and reframes their tournament completely.

The match that will be talked about most from Day 2 was 9z beating Vitality 2-1. The series started looking entirely normal. Vitality took their Inferno pick 13-4, which is the kind of scoreline that suggests a short afternoon. Then 9z converted a dominant CT-side on Mirage and closed it out 13-9. On Vitality's home map of Dust2, meyern kept producing, and 9z closed out the decider 13-11. Vitality, the defending champions and pre-tournament favourites, dropped into the 1-1 bracket after losing on their own map pick.

9z beat Vitality on Dust2 to go 2-0. Vitality won their own map pick at the previous Major. None of that helped on June 12 in Cologne.

Spirit's match against Aurora closed the night. Aurora came in 2-0 and had been one of the more composed sides in Stage 3, but Spirit won 2-1 across Dust2, Anubis, and Nuke. The series was competitive in a way that the NAVI sweep was not, but Spirit still got the result. They are the only team in the bracket to have gone 2-0 across two full Bo3s against real opposition.

The Low Matches: Four Teams Now at 0-2

In the 0-1 group, MongolZ bounced back. After getting upset by BetBoom on Day 1, they swept B8 2-0 on Mirage and Overpass without much drama. Legacy fell again, this time to NAVI. NAVI swept Legacy 2-0 and moved to 1-1, which is a better result than where they were heading after the Spirit loss. Legacy is now 0-2 and one more defeat from elimination.

Monte reverse-swept PARIVISION 2-1. PARIVISION took Mirage 13-9, then Monte came back on Ancient 13-9 and closed the series on Inferno 13-5 with afro going 20-6 on the T-side. PARIVISION went 0-2 on that result and are in serious elimination danger. G2 beat FUT 2-1 to recover from their Day 1 loss to Falcons. FUT, who had taken a map off Vitality on Day 1, are now sitting at 0-2 alongside B8, Legacy, and PARIVISION.

Current Standings After Day 2

The bracket after two rounds of Swiss play. Four teams are at 2-0 and one win from booking their playoff spot. Eight are at 1-1. Four are at 0-2 and one loss from going home.

2-0: Spirit, FURIA, BetBoom, 9z

1-1: Vitality, MOUZ, The MongolZ, Falcons, G2, Monte, Aurora, NAVI

0-2: FUT, PARIVISION, B8, Legacy

Spirit lead the round differential at +30. FURIA are at +18. 9z at +8 and BetBoom at +12. The four 0-2 teams all carry negative differentials, with Legacy at -27 being the worst placed side remaining in the bracket.

Day 3 Schedule: What Happens on June 13

Day 3 is where the bracket starts producing real outcomes. The 2-0 teams play each other, meaning one of Spirit, FURIA, BetBoom, or 9z goes to 3-0 and locks in their playoff spot. The 0-2 teams play each other, meaning two of the four are eliminated today.

The Day 3 schedule runs from 14:30 CEST through to late evening:

NAVI vs The MongolZ and B8 vs FUT go off at 14:30, both from the 1-1 bracket. The MongolZ recovered well on Day 2. NAVI need to keep winning to avoid any real pressure building. B8 and FUT are both 0-2, meaning this match eliminates one of them. FUT had the momentum entering Stage 3 after a strong Stage 2 run and stealing a map off Vitality on Day 1. They have since lost two matches and need a result here to stay alive.

Aurora vs G2 and Falcons vs Monte are the 17:00 slot. Both are 1-1 bracket matches. Aurora lost to Spirit after going 2-0 on Day 1. G2 beat FUT on Day 2 to get their footing back. Falcons need to regroup after the BetBoom loss. Monte reversed a deficit against PARIVISION and will be confident coming in.

Vitality vs MOUZ and PARIVISION vs Legacy are the 19:30 matches. Vitality cannot lose here. Dropping to 1-2 would put them in real danger of Swiss elimination, which would be a catastrophic result for the defending champions. MOUZ also entered Stage 3 with strong form. The PARIVISION vs Legacy match eliminates another 0-2 team, and likely ends one team's tournament entirely.

BetBoom vs FURIA and Spirit vs 9z close the day at 22:00. Both are 2-0 high matches. One of BetBoom or FURIA goes 3-0 and advances. Same for Spirit and 9z. Spirit vs 9z is the most loaded fixture of the entire day given what 9z just did to Vitality. Spirit are the form team of the tournament. Whether 9z can carry that Vitality upset energy into a match against donk is the question a lot of people are asking going into tonight.

Spirit vs 9z at 22:00 CEST. One team goes to 3-0 and directly into the playoffs. Day 3 ends with an answer on whether 9z's run is real or whether Spirit are just the better team right now.

The Bigger Picture: Playoffs Start June 18

IEM Cologne has historically been called the "Cathedral of Counter-Strike" and in 2026 it officially holds Major status, making it the most prestigious event of the summer calendar. The Swiss stage runs through June 15. After a three-day break, playoffs begin June 18 and the new champion is crowned June 21.

The prize pool is $1,250,000. The second Valve Major of the year, PGL Singapore, follows at year's end, which means Cologne results directly shape which teams enter the second half of the season with momentum and VRS ranking points. This is not just about the trophy. What happens in Cologne in the next three days affects roster decisions, seedings, and direct invite status for the rest of 2026.

Spirit look like the team to beat right now. Vitality are still in the tournament but now need to win to stay alive rather than win to confirm what everyone expected. 9z have become the story of Stage 3. Day 3 will tell us a lot about whether any of those reads hold up.

Matches are live on ESL's Twitch and YouTube channels starting at 14:30 CEST.
