The Mafia family got a lot bigger today. Mafia: The Old Country - Man of Honor is out now, picking up Enzo Favara's story with two new chapters set in Sicily in 1905. Right alongside it, 2K has also launched Mafia: The Omertà Collection, which packages four separate eras of the series into a single release.
Between the two, it is a genuinely busy day if you have any history with this franchise. Here is what actually shipped, and what it changes if you are already deep into The Old Country or thinking about jumping in for the first time.
Man of Honor Is Live Today, August 14
Mafia: The Old Country - Man of Honor releases today, dropping players back into Sicily during the winter of 1905, just a few months after Enzo's initiation into the Torrisi family.
Enzo has proven he can be trusted with real work, and the Don hands him and Cesare a job with some weight to it: help Ennio Salieri, a man of honor freshly out of prison and looking to reclaim what he thinks is owed to him. Sticking close to Salieri pulls Enzo deeper into the underworld of Valle Dorata, a place where loyalty, debt and personal ambition are constantly at odds with each other.
2K has kept the two new story chapters mostly under wraps. The official gameplay first look leaned almost entirely on the new Free Ride content instead, so there is not much risk of spoiling anything major here.
Ennio Salieri Returns, Long Before He Becomes a Don
The biggest hook for series veterans is Salieri himself showing up again. This is not the version players know from the original Mafia, the powerful Don running Lost Heaven. This is an earlier Salieri, still putting his operation together, working out of a warehouse in Porto Almaro. Enzo ends up working for him almost immediately.
The gameplay reveal splits the new Salieri content into two categories: Salieri's Challenges and Salieri's Jobs. So this is not just two extra story chapters bolted on. It is a whole new set of criminal activities scattered across the Sicilian countryside for players to work through in Free Ride.
Salieri's Challenges Mix Combat, Stealth and Racing
Salieri's Challenges are built as a gauntlet for Enzo, and the Steam listing lays out what that actually covers: brutal combat encounters, stealthy assassinations, high-speed races, and something called the Vineyard Tour.
That spread matters more than it might sound. Instead of funneling players into more shootouts, Man of Honor gives Free Ride a reason to test different parts of Enzo's skillset, whether that is gunplay, patience, or driving.
Salieri's Jobs Are a New Way to Earn Dinari
Salieri's Jobs is the other major addition, a set of contracts spread through the valley that take some very different shapes. One example from the reveal has Enzo infiltrating a citrus farm to take out rival whiskey runners and steal their delivery truck. Other jobs turn into full shootouts, and one has Enzo transporting a valuable vehicle while a gang of thieves tries to take it off him.
The Steam description adds more to the list: hidden caches of loot, high-value vehicle deliveries, and trucks carrying goods that are worth a lot but do not survive rough handling. Pull them off and Enzo earns extra Dinari for the trouble.
What stands out here is the variety. Rather than another pile of near-identical missions, Salieri's Jobs mixes infiltration, combat, theft, driving and exploration under one system.
Three New Weapons Join Enzo's Arsenal
Man of Honor adds three new guns and three new knives in total. The gameplay reveal focused on a few of them.
The pump action shotgun is built for close range, trading distance for capacity with ten shells in the tube. The Praecisione Speciale rifle goes the other direction, with a chance to fire explosive rounds capable of tearing through cover. For players who would rather not be seen at all, the Rimbalzu throwing knife can bounce off a target and hit a second one, turning a single throw into two kills if it lands right.
These are just the weapons 2K chose to show off, not a full inventory of everything in the expansion.
Five New Charms, Plus Vehicles, Horses and More
Man of Honor also brings five new Charms. Dolce Morte was the one shown in the reveal: equip it and defeated enemies occasionally drop fruit that heals Enzo and hands him a bit more Dinari at the same time.
On top of that, the expansion adds three new vehicles, two new horses, three new outfits, five new hats, new collectibles and new Achievements. Free Ride itself picks up more discoverables too, including Wanted Posters, Stunt Jumps, and Sulfur Trucks belonging to Salieri's enemies that players can blow up. There are also fresh hidden locations scattered through the map, plus a handful of new classic cars worth taking for a slow drive through the countryside once the work is done.
The Omertà Collection Brings Four Eras of Mafia Together
While Man of Honor expands one game, The Omertà Collection is aimed at the whole series. It bundles Mafia: The Old Country Definitive Edition, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition into one package, and it is out today on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The Old Country Definitive Edition included in the collection carries both Man of Honor and the previous Deluxe Edition content. Mafia: Definitive Edition also gets its own upgrade here, arriving on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with 60 FPS gameplay and general technical improvements.
| Game | Setting | Protagonist |
|---|---|---|
| Mafia: The Old Country | Sicily, 1904 | Enzo Favara |
| Mafia: Definitive Edition | Lost Heaven, 1930 | Tommy Angelo |
| Mafia II: Definitive Edition | Empire Bay, 1943 | Vito Scaletta |
| Mafia III: Definitive Edition | New Bordeaux, 1968 | Lincoln Clay |
Laid out like that, the collection covers more than six decades of organized crime, starting in early-1900s Sicily and ending in the American South of the late sixties. Mafia: The Old Country opens things with Enzo's brutal childhood of forced labor and his decision to risk everything to become a man of honor. Mafia: Definitive Edition follows Tommy Angelo, an ordinary man whose chance encounter with the mob during Prohibition pulls him into the Salieri family. Mafia II moves to Empire Bay, where war veteran Vito Scaletta gets tangled up in organized crime while trying to pay off his father's debts. Mafia III closes it out with Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam veteran whose surrogate family is betrayed and murdered by the Italian Mafia, sending him on a revenge campaign across New Bordeaux.
What Comes With The Old Country Definitive Edition
2K says the new Definitive Edition replaces the old Deluxe Edition outright, keeping everything that came with it and adding Man of Honor on top. The full package includes the base game, the Man of Honor expansion, the Padrino Pack, the Soldato Pack, the Gatto Nero Pack, a digital art book, and the original score soundtrack covering both The Old Country and Man of Honor.
The three bonus packs each add a small, specific set of extras. The Padrino Pack comes with two guns, one knife, one Charm, one outfit, one vehicle and one horse. The Soldato Pack is lighter, with one knife, one outfit and one horse. The Gatto Nero Pack rounds it out with one pistol, one Charm, one outfit and one vehicle.
Mafia: Definitive Edition Finally Hits PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
The 2020 remake of Tommy Angelo's story is now playable on current-generation consoles, running at 60 FPS with technical improvements over the original release. It is still fundamentally the same game from 2020, just running noticeably better on newer hardware.
Existing owners get some good news here too. Anyone who already owns the physical or digital PS4 version gets the digital PS5 version at no extra cost, and the same deal applies to digital Xbox One owners moving up to Xbox Series X|S. The one catch is that save files do not carry over between generations, so returning players will be starting Tommy's story fresh.
Discounts for Existing Owners, and Limited Introductory Pricing
Players who already own part of the series are not stuck paying full price for the whole bundle. On Steam, anyone who owns one or more games from the collection automatically gets the best price available through Steam's Complete Your Collection system. PlayStation and Xbox owners of the previous-gen versions of Mafia, Mafia II or Mafia III get a discount on the same platform, and there is an even bigger cut available for anyone who already owns Mafia: The Old Country on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
2K has not published one universal price for The Omertà Collection, pointing players instead toward their platform's storefront for exact regional pricing. It is also worth noting that PS4 owners will not see the collection while browsing the PlayStation Store directly from a PS4 console, though it is accessible, discounts included, through the PlayStation Store website or the PlayStation App.
The Bottom Line
Man of Honor adds two new story chapters to The Old Country along with Salieri's Challenges and Jobs, three new weapons, five new Charms, and a batch of vehicles, horses and collectibles for Free Ride. The Omertà Collection ships alongside it, bundling all four mainline Mafia games into one purchase and bringing Mafia: Definitive Edition to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at 60 FPS.
Existing owners get real discounts on the collection and a free current-gen upgrade for the 2020 remake, though save files will not transfer across generations. For anyone who has not touched the series yet, this is about as clean an entry point as the Mafia games have offered in years.
