Team Falcons closed out Friday, August 1 in commanding fashion, finishing atop the Esports World Cup 2026 Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence Series Survival Stage. The result locked in one of the six remaining places in Saturday's Match Point Finals, putting Falcons alongside Team Vitality, Leviatán, NOVO Esports, Team PBJ, and EKLETYC in the championship lobby.

The Survival Stage offered the final opportunity to qualify for the Match Point Finals. Sixteen squads fought across ten matches on Haven's Hollow, Rebirth Island, and Fortune's Keep, with only the top six standings spots punching a ticket forward. Anyone outside that line, no matter how close, was done for the tournament.

By the time the tenth and final match ended, Team Falcons sat at 237 Kill Points, the highest total of the night and the product of one of the sharpest momentum swings of the entire Survival Stage.

A Contested Opening Half

The stage didn't belong to any one team from the opening whistle. Team Vitality set the tone early, winning Match 1 on Haven's Hollow before the field had even settled in. Leviatán answered almost immediately, taking Match 2 and then Match 4 to establish themselves as one of the day's clear early contenders. Team Nemesis broke through in between, winning Match 3 and keeping the first half of the night from turning into a two-team race.

For a while, it looked like the Survival Stage might come down to whichever of those three teams could hold their form the longest. That changed the moment the rotation shifted to Fortune's Keep.

Falcons Find Their Rhythm on Fortune's Keep

Team Falcons had been quiet through the opening rounds, but once the matches moved to Fortune's Keep, they took over completely. Back-to-back wins in Match 5 and Match 6 gave them their first real separation from the pack, and a third win in Match 9 all but sealed the top spot. Their placements through the closing stretch of the night were consistently strong even in the matches they didn't win outright, which is what let them pull clear of Vitality and Leviatán by the end.

Team Heretics did close the night with a win in Match 10, the last result of the Survival Stage, but by then it changed nothing. Falcons had already banked enough of a lead that a tenth-match upset couldn't touch first place.

Team Falcons stole the headlines, but Team Vitality arguably had the more consistent night of anyone in the lobby. They won Match 1 and Match 7 while regularly finishing near the top of the standings in the matches they didn't win, and that steadiness carried them to second place overall with 210.4 KP.

Leviatán rounded out the top three with 179.4 KP, built on their two match wins plus a run of solid, unspectacular finishes across the rest of the night. It wasn't a flashy path to third, but it didn't need to be. Consistency was enough to keep them well clear of the pack chasing them for the final Match Point Finals spots.

NOVO Esports Breaks Through Late

NOVO Esports spent most of the night knocking on the door without quite getting through it, repeatedly finishing near the top of the standings without a win to show for it. That changed in Match 8, when they finally converted a strong placement into an outright victory. It was enough to lock in fourth place with 177.6 KP, less than two full points behind Leviatán in third. Given how tight that gap was, NOVO's late breakthrough ended up mattering a great deal.

Five Different Teams Claimed Victories

Part of what made the Survival Stage worth watching was how spread out the match wins were. Five different organizations won at least one of the ten matches, and the winners' list reads almost like a cross-section of the entire lobby rather than a story about two or three dominant rosters.

Team Falcons were the only side to win more than twice, and even they only managed three of the ten matches. That's a fairly clear sign of how even the Survival Stage lobby was, right up until the overall standings separated the contenders from everyone else.

It's also worth pointing out how little a single match win actually guaranteed. Team Nemesis took Match 3 early in the night and still finished ninth overall, well outside the six advancing spots. How the Match Point Format Works

Saturday's finals won't be decided the same way the Survival Stage was. Instead of simply totaling points across a fixed number of matches and crowning whoever finishes with the most, the Match Point Finals use a threshold system. Teams first have to accumulate enough points to reach the Match Point mark, and once they've done that, they still need to win a match outright to actually claim the championship. Being ahead on points alone isn't enough. A team can sit at the top of the leaderboard all day and still need that final match win to close it out.

The format allows for up to twelve maps across the day, rotating between the same three locations used in the Survival Stage:

Twelve maps is a ceiling, not a guarantee. If a team clears the Match Point threshold and wins early, the finals could end well before that twelfth game gets played. Given how the Survival Stage played out, with three separate teams trading the overall lead before Falcons pulled away late, it wouldn't be a surprise if Saturday's finals take most of that full map count to settle.
