Updated June 25, 2026: Pre-orders are now live. Rockstar has confirmed the official price and both editions. All placeholder sections in this article have been replaced with confirmed details from the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.

Rockstar confirmed it a week ago: GTA VI pre-orders go live today, June 25, on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and at select retail partners. As of today, the listings are active and the numbers are in. Here is everything confirmed directly from the storefronts.

GTA VI Price: Official Confirmed Price

Confirmed. The Standard Edition of GTA VI is priced at $79.99. The Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99. Both are live right now on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. Rockstar published the numbers this morning alongside the pre-order announcement.

That $79.99 baseline is a real price increase over the $69.99 standard set at the start of the current generation. GTA VI is now the first major third-party title to land at $80 on PS5, following Nintendo's move with Mario Kart World earlier in 2026. The speculation is over and the number that will be cited as the new industry baseline is confirmed: $79.99 for the base game.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said publicly that the company tries to charge "way less" than what the game is actually worth. Whether you believe that or not, the number is $79.99, and it is the same on both PlayStation and Xbox.

Every GTA VI Edition Available to Pre-Order

Rockstar is offering two editions at launch. There is no Collector's Edition, no SteelBook, and no Deluxe middle tier. Just two options.

Standard Edition -- $79.99
The base game. Full story campaign, no upgrade content. Available digitally on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and physically at retail. Note that even the physical version ships as a box with a download code, not a disc. Pre-ordering before November 20 adds the Vintage Vice City Pack at no extra cost (see pre-order bonuses section below).

Ultimate Edition -- $99.99
The Standard game plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, which layers exclusive vehicles, weapons, outfits, tattoos, and unlocks across Jason and Lucia's story. The upgrade is woven through the campaign rather than handed to you upfront. Notable inclusions confirmed by the Xbox and PlayStation store listings:

Both editions are identically priced across PS5 and Xbox in India. The Standard Edition is available at Rs. 5,999 and the Ultimate Edition at Rs. 7,499 on both the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. Indian players pre-ordering the digital version of either edition before November 20 qualify for the same Vintage Vice City Pack and one free month of GTA+ included with every digital pre-order globally.

  • '95 Grotti Cheetah -- Grotti's signature mid-90s sports car, available during later story chapters.
  • Hawk & Little Morgan Revolver -- His and hers versions with Vice City stylings sourced from the Vercetti Estate, including palm-tree-etched grips and a high-performance scope.
  • Personalized sidearms -- Engraved variants of Jason's Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia's Klose K17 pistol.
  • '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and garage -- Off-road build with a dedicated Paradise Garage at Watson Bay, which includes a weapon locker and storage for stolen goods.
  • Shitzu Squalo -- A gradient pink and blue boat docked at Washington Beach, rigged with a weapons crate.
  • Ganado Retro Build -- Exclusive mods for Jason's Vapid Ganado pickup.
  • Jason's Safehouse Vehicles -- Dinka Enduro motorcycle and Crest Kayak.
  • Exclusive apparel, outfits, and tattoos -- Including a Goodtime Gear capsule collection inspired by in-game TV character Macca the Alligator.
  • PTT Youngin$ Compound raid -- An optional mission tied to a Southside Vice City gang.
  • Classic Car Collection commission -- A series of abandoned cars to track down and restore, via eccentric local fixer Wyman.

The Ultimate Edition also unlocks five exclusive in-game destinations not accessible with the Standard Edition:

  • Rideout Customs -- Vehicle customization shop with interior mods, rims, and donk styling.
  • Sara's Unisex Salon -- Signature hairstyles, facial hair for Jason, and nails and makeup for Lucia.
  • Stock 305 -- Exclusive streetwear boutique for Jason and Lucia.
  • Electric Fang Tattoo -- Over 50 tattoos designed by artist collective FAILE.
  • One-Eyed Willie's -- Off-road and hand-painted automotive shop at Lake Leonida.

The Ultimate Edition is digital only. If you want a physical box, the Standard Edition is your only option. The $20 Ultimate Edition Upgrade is also available separately as an add-on if you buy Standard now and change your mind later.

Where to Pre-Order GTA VI on PS5

The PlayStation Store is the most direct option. Rockstar confirmed pre-orders will be live on digital storefronts today. The PlayStation Store listing will be accessible through the GTA VI game page, through Sony's dedicated pre-order section, or by searching GTA VI directly from your console or the web app.

Worth knowing: PlayStation Store pre-orders usually go live on Pacific time, which means players in the UK and Europe may be waiting until the evening before the listings appear. There is no specific time posted by Rockstar yet. If you are not in a Pacific time zone, do not assume the listing will be up the moment you wake up.

For physical pre-orders on PS5, major UK and US retailers typically include GAME, GAME UK, Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop. Physical editions for Rockstar releases do occasionally come with exclusive content tied to the retailer. Check each storefront for bonus details once listings go live.

Where to Pre-Order GTA VI on Xbox Series X/S

The Microsoft Store is the equivalent digital route for Xbox. Same drill as PlayStation: the listing should appear on the GTA VI product page in the store today. Xbox Series X and Series S are both confirmed platforms for GTA VI at launch on November 19.

One thing worth flagging for Xbox players specifically: GTA VI is not coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch, or at least Rockstar has given no indication that it is. If you were expecting to play it through your subscription, that is not the current plan. You will need to purchase a copy.

Physical Xbox pre-orders follow the same retailer landscape as PlayStation. Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop are the main US options. GAME and ShopTo in the UK.

Is There a PC Version of GTA VI?

No. Not at launch. GTA VI is a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S exclusive at launch on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date. Based on historical Rockstar patterns, a PC version of GTA VI will almost certainly exist at some point. GTA V came to PC around 18 months after its console debut. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar timeline. If you are waiting for a PC version, you are probably looking at 2027 at the earliest, and nothing is confirmed.

Is There a Nintendo Switch 2 Version?

Also no, at least not confirmed. Rockstar has said nothing about a Switch 2 port. Given the hardware gap between the Switch 2 and current-gen consoles, a native port would be a significant engineering undertaking. There has been no leak, no rating board listing, and no hint from Rockstar pointing in that direction. Do not count on it.

GTA VI Release Date

November 19, 2026. That date has held through multiple rounds of speculation and was reaffirmed by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in the company's most recent earnings call. The fact that pre-orders are going live today, with the game roughly five months out, is itself a confirmation signal. Publishers do not launch pre-orders this close to a release window unless the date is solid.

GTA VI has already been delayed once, from its original 2025 target. Rockstar and Take-Two are aware that another delay would be catastrophic for both the game and the publisher's stock. November 19 is the date.

What GTA VI Actually Is

For anyone who has somehow missed the last several years of coverage: Grand Theft Auto VI returns the series to Vice City, the fictional Miami-inspired setting from GTA Vice City in 2002. The game stars two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, with Lucia confirmed as the first playable female protagonist in mainline GTA. The trailer shown in December 2023 confirmed a sun-drenched open world, the series' trademark chaos, and what looks like a modern take on GTA V's switching mechanic applied to a relationship-driven story.

GTA Online will return alongside GTA VI. How it will work, whether it carries over progress from GTA V's version, and whether there is crossplay between PS5 and Xbox, are all still open questions. Rockstar has said virtually nothing about the online component, which is either responsible communication ahead of a proper reveal or a sign that the online details are still being finalized. Probably some of both.

A new hidden clip on the Rockstar website, spotted by Digital Foundry through a scrolling animation on the GTA VI page, shows a brief pan through Vice City at sunset. Digital Foundry noted what looks like ray tracing in the footage. The visual quality in that short clip alone is doing a lot to set expectations.

Pre-Order Bonuses: What You Actually Get

Pre-ordering either edition before November 20, 2026 gets you the Vintage Vice City Pack. This applies to both Standard and Ultimate, on both platforms. Here is what is in it:

  • '55 Vapid Stanier -- A classic 1955 sedan with a personal garage at Shore Court on Ocean Beach.
  • Jason's Linen Suit -- A vintage pastel suit with a matching 80s-era hairstyle.
  • Lucia's Retro Dress -- A red sequin mini dress with a period-appropriate curly hairstyle.
  • Tropical Weapon Pattern -- An Uzi skin that echoes Tommy Vercetti's iconic shirt from the original Vice City.

Digital pre-orders on both PS5 and Xbox also come with one free month of GTA+. You need to claim it separately through the relevant store page after placing your pre-order, and it must be redeemed by March 31, 2027. The subscription auto-renews at the standard monthly rate after the free month unless you cancel before the renewal date.

GTA VI and the Industry Pricing Question

There is a larger story wrapped around whatever number Rockstar reveals today. Game pricing has been under pressure since Nintendo charged $80 for Mario Kart World earlier in 2026. The conversation around what a game should cost has not been this loud since the jump from $49.99 to $59.99 in the previous generation.

GTA VI is the most anticipated entertainment release of 2026. Possibly of the decade, depending on who you ask. Rockstar and Take-Two know this. They also know that their real money comes from GTA Online and the shark card ecosystem that has run inside that game since 2013. A base game price that maximizes day-one copies sold is worth more to them than a price that looks impressive on a press release but puts people off buying at launch.

That is why $79.99 ended up being the number, not $99. Rockstar wants the biggest launch in history. A $100 base price would give every gaming publication on earth a reason to write a "too expensive" take. $79.99 is high enough to represent a real price increase and still manageable enough that the discourse stays focused on the game rather than the price tag. They read the room correctly.

The broader point is that whatever Rockstar charges today will immediately become a reference point for every major game release through 2027. Publishers have been watching to see whether Take-Two would break the ceiling. If GTA VI is $80, $80 becomes the new floor for major releases. If it goes to $90 or $100, that number will be cited in every subsequent pricing conversation for the next several years. There is real industry weight to what happens today, not just for GTA fans but for everyone who buys games.

We covered that broader pricing context in depth in our Steam Machine pricing analysis piece, if you want the full picture of where the hardware market is heading alongside software. The short version: costs are up across the board, and the pressure on both game prices and console prices is coming from the same underlying source.

Should You Pre-Order GTA VI?

Honestly? There is no good reason to pre-order GTA VI in 2026. Digital copies do not sell out. The PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store will have GTA VI available for the full price the moment the game launches in November. Pre-ordering does not save you anything, does not guarantee you access on day one, and does not protect you if the game somehow gets delayed again. The pre-order bonus, whatever it turns out to be, is almost certainly cosmetic content you will not think about after the first week.

That said, if you are buying a physical copy and you want the specific edition or retailer version you have in mind, pre-ordering makes practical sense. Physical stock for major releases does sell through at certain retailers, and if a specific collector's edition appeals to you, waiting on it carries real risk.

For digital buyers: there is no rush. The game will be there on November 19 whether you put down money today or not. The only reason to pre-order digitally is if you want to get the download going in advance so the game is ready to play the moment it unlocks. That is a legitimate convenience, not a financial necessity.

Everything Still Unknown About GTA VI

The pre-order launch answers one question and leaves a lot of others open. Here is what Rockstar has not told us yet, and will likely address between now and November.

GTA Online's structure is the biggest gap. GTA V's online mode became a decade-long live service. GTA VI's version will presumably do the same. Whether it launches with GTA VI or follows later, whether it requires a separate purchase, and whether there is any continuity from the GTA V economy, all unknown.

Crossplay between PS5 and Xbox has not been confirmed or denied. Given that crossplay is now standard for most major multiplayer releases, it would be surprising if it was absent from GTA Online. But Rockstar has said nothing.

Performance details on base PS5 vs PS5 Pro are not confirmed. Digital Foundry's read of the Rockstar website footage suggested ray tracing is in the game. Whether that runs on base hardware or requires the Pro is an open question. Given the scope of the game and how demanding the Vice City environment looks in the brief footage available, this one will matter to a lot of buyers making platform decisions.

Story length and structure, the second protagonist mechanic in more detail, how switching between Lucia and Jason works in the main campaign, what the online component looks like at launch, and whether there will be any kind of early access period. All of it is still sitting behind a wall of pre-release silence that Rockstar is very good at maintaining.

What today has confirmed: November 19 is real, the price is $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate, the pre-order bonus is the Vintage Vice City Pack, and there are exactly two editions on offer. Everything else, the GTA Online structure, crossplay details, performance specifics on Pro hardware, story length and mechanics, gets filled in as Rockstar moves toward launch. We will keep this page updated as new information comes out.
